Linocut prints

A photograph of Henry Heerup wearing blue-and-white striped pyjamas, hanging black-and-white linocut prints out to dry, prompted Jonna Pedersen to explore linocut printing herself – in colour. Her first prints were created for the exhibition Heerup & PRO – On a Journey of Discovery at Heerup Museum in 2023. She created three works for the exhibition: Coffee at 3, which takes its starting point in the social ritual of coming over for coffee; Summer Flirt, a paraphrase of Heerup’s painting Summer Dance; and a third print based on Heerup’s jumping-jack Santa.

For her solo exhibition Afterthoughts, she explored the colour pink in Pink Love, inspired by Elvis Presley’s love of the colour and the pink Cadillac he gave to his mother.

Margrethe I is part of Pedersen’s public artwork for Tower 7 of the Langeland Art Towers. Queen Margrethe I is the starting point for the work – a historical example of diplomatic strength and the ability to bring people together. This also forms the basis for the title Unity - Togetherness of the commission.

For PROvartaci – Being Human, she created two prints, Pure Love and Sirena, based on her installation The Red Room – Confront Your Fear.

Oh... Coffee, Solstang and Bølgevaffel spring from her love of coffee and ice cream – recurring motifs in her artistic universe.

Dansk: Et fotografi af Henry Heerup iført blå- og hvidstribet pyjamas, mens han hænger sort-hvide linoleumssnit til tørre, satte Jonna Pedersen i gang med at udforske linoleumstrykket – i farver. De første tryk blev skabt til udstillingen Heerup & PRO – på opdagelsesrejse på Heerup Museum i 2023. Her skabte hun tre værker: Kaffe kl. 3, der tager afsæt i det sociale ritual omkring det at komme til kaffe, Sommerflirt, en parafrase over Heerups maleri Sommerdans, samt et tryk skabt med udgangspunkt i Heerups julemandssprællemand.

Til soloudstillingen Eftertanker udforskede hun farven pink i Pink Love, inspireret af Elvis Presleys kærlighed til farven og den pink Cadillac, han gav sin mor.

Margrethe 1 indgår i Pedersens udsmykning af Tårn 7 i De Langelandske Kunsttårne. Her er dronning Margrethe 1. udgangspunktet for værket – et historisk forbillede på diplomatisk styrke og evnen til at samle mennesker. Det er også afsættet for titlen Sammenhold på udsmykningen.

Til PROvartaci – At være menneske på Museum Ovartaci skabte hun to tryk, Ren Kærlighed og Sirena, med afsæt i installationen Det røde rum – konfronter din angst.

Åh... kaffe, Solstang og Bølgevaffel udspringer af hendes kærlighed til kaffe og is – tilbagevendende motiver i hendes kunstneriske univers.
